The Museum of the Château de Laàs, composed of the Serbat Collection, invites you to travel back in time through the reconstruction of a large noble house as it was inhabited in the 18th century.
Visits to the museum for schools and recreation centres
In an effort to raise awareness about decorative arts, we offer young visitors a different style of tour of the museum. During visits especially adapted to their age groups, our guides present the materials, styles and functions of the objects in the collection in a fun manner. They also propose entertaining workshops presenting the Museum’s main themes and offer children the chance to return home with a small souvenir, such as a personalised 18th century style fan.
Much more than a museum
In former times, the Château de Laàs was the home of wealthy and enlightened collectors, Louis and Madeleine Serbat. Visitors can discover the castle as it used to be, without any protective barriers and objects exhibited behind glass. This has been done in order to retain its intimate character as a private family home: without a doubt the best way to discover the French-style way of life in the 18th and 19th centuries.
